We are excited to offer a new CSA this year, the Preserve It CSA. This CSA is for those of you who want to stock up on produce at its peak ripeness and preserve it for winter use.
What is a CSA? Consumers and farmers enter partnerships to create mutually beneficial and ecologically sound local food systems. You, as the consumer, benefit by receiving fresh, seasonal produce grown locally by someone they know. Growers benefit by receiving income in the off-season to help with costs of seeds, equipment, and labor.
We preserve as much of our produce as possible, filling our pantry and freezer with local, healthy food.
So, what does this CSA look like for you? During the months of August, September, and October you will receive a total of 6 produce baskets along with ideas for use, which might include freezing and/or canning options. These baskets will be available for pick up at our weekly Saturday farmers’ market. You will receive an email the week of your delivery with item(s) you will receive and preservation ideas. Your Preserve It CSA will include 6 of the following 9 options, depending on availability.
- Tomatoes & Herbs
- Kale &/or Swiss Chard
- Bell Peppers & Onions
- Green Beans
- Eggplant, Zucchini, & Bell Peppers
- Broccoli & Parsley
- Pickling Cucumbers
- Winter Squash & Cabbage
We are accepting 6 Preserve It CSA shares this year, so sign up fast.
