B&G Produce is excited to offer CSA shares for 2017! Each weekly basket will include a variety of produce and some recipes. There will be 14 weeks of produce baskets and 3 off weeks to allow us a break and also to allow you to “catch up” on any excess produce you may have accumulated. So, in total, the CSA will run for 17 weeks with a targeted start date of June 20.
What is a CSA? Consumers and farmers enter partnerships to create mutually beneficial and ecologically sound local food systems. You, as the consumer, benefit by receiving fresh, seasonal produce grown locally by someone they know. Growers benefit by receiving income in the off-season to help with costs of seeds, equipment, and labor.
With a B&G Produce CSA share you’ll experience seasonality at its best. Tomatoes picked when they are ripe instead of harvested green and then “ripening” on their long journey across the country to your dinner table. The flavor of fresh-from-the-garden produce is unforgettable. Below are examples of possible baskets during July and September. We will try not to double up produce, so you may get kale one week but not the next. We are hoping to include some fruit again this year.
Sample July Basket:
Mini Romaine Lettuces
Zucchini or Eggplant
Sample September Basket:
Kale or Swiss Chard
CSA basket pick up will be every Tuesday from 5:30pm – 6:30pm at a location to be determined in the next couple months. If you are unable to pick up your share, you will need to arrange for someone to pick it up for you. Any shares not picked up will be donated or composted.
We are accepting 35 CSA shares this year and look forward to you joining our group!
